Accommodation and Training Site

Mount Washington offers world-class facilities and a great choice of on mountain accommodation and has over the last few years established itself as one of the preferred pre-Olympic training sites for many international teams who will be using the mountain's alpine and Nordic terrain and facilities to acclimatize before their Olympic events.

Less than an hour’s flight or three hours by road and ferry from Vancouver, our Vancouver Island alpine destination is located in one of the most spectacular coastal mountain settings in North America. Mount Washington’s alpine to ocean location offers easy access to the wide choice of facilities and training terrain available in and around the Comox Valley. Mount Washington Alpine Resort is ideal for Winter Olympics accommodation and training.

Vancouver Island Alpine Climate

Mount Washington offers similar elevation, climate and coastal snow conditions to the Callaghan Valley and Whistler, host to the 2010 Olympics great. With an average snow base of 29 feet (900 cm), Mount Washington’s Vancouver Island alpine location has some of the most consistent, reliable snow conditions in North America and winter temperatures are moderate and rarely dip below -10C making the resort an ideal winter destination.

Mount Washington’s friendly environment is the perfect pre-2010 Olympics accommodation and training location to allow the athletes to acclimatize to the local time zone, temperature and snow conditions. Our alpine, cross country and dryland training opportunities, have hosted world cup championships and are the official training site of the Canadian national cross country ski team.
